Coding for Good
Northwest Tucson Robotics Club will offer Coding for Good classes in the FALL to be held at Catalyst Creative Collective at the Tucson Mall. These Coding for Good classes are based on ForwardEdu.com's Coding for Good kits and a tailored curriculum.
For Grades 3–5 (Elementary)
Focus is on foundational skills with guided, block-based coding and simpler builds. Lessons emphasize basic logic, sequences, loops, sensors, and introductory real-world connections. No prior experience is needed.
Students build confidence through structured tutorials while exploring cause-and-effect and basic engineering. Projects often tie into NGSS science, math, and early CS standards.

For Grades 6–8 (Middle School)
Emphasis shifts to open-ended design challenges, systems thinking, real sensor data collection/graphing/analysis, and introductory AI/machine learning. Students tackle more complex, cross-curricular problems with greater iteration and customization.
Hands-on projects build engineering practices, data literacy, and AI concepts (e.g., training models, ethics/bias discussions) while aligning with middle school CSTA/NGSS standards.

NOTE: in addition to registration, these classes require the ForwardEdu.com Coding for Good Kit and the corresponding micro:bit v2 computer. Total for kit is approximately $300. A single kit can be used by 2 students in the same family, in the same class. Each family must purchase the Coding for Good kit and micro:bit v2 computer separately through ForwardEdu.com.
