Northwest Tucson Robotics Club hosts a FIRST Tech Challenge team called Testing is Optional. This will be our 5th year as a competitive robotics team for ages 12-18. We have gone to State Competition every year and even attended a Premier Event in Edmonton, Canada in 2025.
This year's theme is "Canopy"—all about Biodiversity. The FTC theme is BIOBUZZ. We even already have our pollen to practice with! We are going to do a pre-season event this year in August.
We will be meeting Mondays and Thursdays Aug 10 - Sept 10, 6 - 7:30pm location TBD to do some Skillbuilding challenges and have the students apply and interview for leadership positions on the team.
Mark your calendars for Kick-off Saturday, Sept 12 at 9am until noon. All events will be posted on this calendar as they become available.
This year we are asking students to donate $500 to the NW Tucson Robotics Club, a 501c3 organization, OR secure a donation of at least $500. The money collected will be used for the FIRST registration fee, all tournament fees (including states), robot parts, meals at the tournaments, and a team t-shirt. If a student can secure a donation of $1000 or more, they will receive a team hoodie!
Please let us know your interest by filling out the Contact Form. Please be sure to add a note "Testing is Optional".
